Report on International Day of Yoga 2026 Celebration

International Day of Yoga 2026 was celebrated with great enthusiasm on 21st June 2026 by Bhausaheb Mulak Ayurved Mahavidyalaya, Nandanvan, Nagpur, in collaboration with the Regional Ayurveda Research Institute (RARI), Nagpur, under the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), Ministry of Ayush, Government of India.

The programme was organized at Mahavir Playground, Ganesh Nagar, Azam Shah Layout, Nandanvan, Nagpur, under the global theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.” The celebration commenced at 6:00 a.m. with Dhanvantari Vandana, followed by the CCRAS Kulgeet, creating an atmosphere of devotion and institutional pride.

Faculty members, students, Ayurveda professionals, researchers, yoga practitioners, and citizens from across Nagpur enthusiastically participated in the event. The programme was inaugurated with a welcome address by Dr. Savita Sharma, Assistant Director & Officer-in-Charge, RARI Nagpur, who emphasized the importance of integrating Yoga and Ayurveda into daily life for sustainable health and holistic well-being. The proceedings were effectively compered by Dr. Manisha Waghulkar (Talekar), Research Officer (Ayurveda), RARI Nagpur.

The major attraction of the celebration was the mass practice of the Common Yoga Protocol prescribed by the Ministry of Ayush. Under the guidance of experienced yoga experts, nearly 1,200 participants performed various yogic practices with great enthusiasm, promoting the message of physical fitness, mental wellness, and healthy ageing.

Bhausaheb Mulak Ayurved Mahavidyalaya, Nandanvan, Nagpur actively participated in the programme through the involvement of its teaching faculty and students. The institution contributed to the successful conduct of the event alongside several Ayurvedic colleges, hospitals, and collaborating organizations from Nagpur. As a mark of appreciation, participating institutions and collaborating organizations were felicitated with Certificates of Appreciation and mementoes by RARI, Nagpur.

The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks, followed by the National Anthem, group photographs, refreshments, and a QR-code-based digital feedback process. E-certificates were issued to participants after submission of their feedback forms.

The celebration successfully conveyed the significance of Yoga as a way of life and reinforced the message that regular yoga practice is essential for achieving physical health, mental peace, and overall well-being. The event also strengthened the collaboration between Bhausaheb Mulak Ayurved Mahavidyalaya, Nandanvan, Nagpur and CCRAS–RARI, Nagpur in promoting the objectives of the Ministry of Ayush and spreading awareness about the benefits of Yoga among students and the community.
