On the occasion of World Alzheimer’s Day, Bhausaheb Mulak Ayurved Mahavidyalaya, Nandanvan, Nagpur, organized a special Awareness and Health Check-up Camp for senior citizens at Virangula Kendra, a Jyeshtha Nagrik Club. The program aimed to spread awareness about Alzheimer’s disease, its early signs, preventive measures, and the importance of Ayurveda and Yoga in maintaining mental and physical health during old age.
The program began with a warm welcome extended to Mr. Vasantrao Kalambe, Mr. Rajesh Ambulkar, and Smt. Araspure mam on behalf of all club members. Some of members also gave their opinion regarding the disease and the challenges faced by them.
The event was graced by the presence of Dr. Yuwaraj Kale (Principal and HOD, Shalakya Tantra), Dr. C. S. Tanmane (HOD, Kayachikitsa), Dr Vidya Ingole (HOD & Professor ) Dr. Urade (HOD, Agadtantra), Dr. Sandhya Wagh (HOD, Nidan), Dr. Meena Alnewar (HOD, Shalya Tantra), Dr. Mahendra Agrawal (HOD, Panchakarma), and Dr. Madhavi Rehpade (HOD, Swasthavritta), who encouraged the students and appreciated the community welfare initiative.
Various free health services were offered during the camp, including Bone Density Testing, ECG, Ayurvedic Health Check-up, and Free Medicine Dispensing, conducted by the Department of Kayachikitsa with active support from the Department of Swasthavritta.
Postgraduate students of Swasthvrutta delivered informative talks on dietary guidelines, lifestyle practices, and do’s and don’ts during old age, highlighting ways to identify and manage the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease. A practical session on Yoga and Pranayama, including Bhramari and Anulom Vilom, was conducted to promote mental calmness and emotional balance.
The program was hosted by Dr. Pranali Pethe, PG student of the Department of Kayachikitsa. A brief awareness lecture on Alzheimer’s disease and its Ayurvedic management was also delivered by Dr Vaibhav Kale, PG student of Kayachikitsa. Vote of thanks was given by Dr Bhairavi Nimbarte, Professor, Kayachikitsa Department.
More than 100 senior citizens benefitted from the camp. The initiative received heartfelt appreciation from all participants and members of Virangula Kendra, reflecting the institution’s commitment to Ayurveda-based geriatric care and community health promotion.
