Value Added Program on Marma Chikitsa

The Department of Kayachikitsa successfully organized a Value Added Program on Marma Chikitsa from 1st to 14th August 2025, comprising a total of 15 academic hours. The program aimed at imparting in-depth theoretical and practical knowledge of Marma therapy to undergraduate students, combining traditional wisdom with clinical applications.

The workshop started with an inaugural session, with inclusion of 7 in-house sessions by departmental faculty – Dr. C. S. Tanmane (HOD), Dr. Bhairavi Nimbarte, Dr. Ummed Raut, Dr. Ashwini Nakade, and Dr. Mayuri Shingnapurkar from Kayachikitsa, along with Dr. Alka Charde (HOD and Professor) and Dr. Pratibha Atram, Associate Professor, Sharir Rachana department. These sessions covered the fundamentals of Marma anatomy, classification, mechanism of action, physiological and therapeutic significance, and clinical case discussions.

In addition, three expert guest lectures enriched the program. On 8th August 2025, Dr. Nita Kedar, Professor, Shalya Tantra, Government Ayurved College, Nagpur, spoke on clinical applications of Marma in pain management with live demonstrations. On 11th August 2025, Vd. Gaurishankar Urkude, Associate Professor, Swasthvrutta, from Shri K R Pandav Ayurved College Nagpur , delivered a session on cervical region Marmas and their therapeutic utility. On 12th August 2025, Dr. Priya Thakare, Research Officer, RARI, Ministry Of AYUSH, shared insights blending classical concepts with modern perspectives.

The program concluded with an enthusiastic Valedictory Function, Certificate distribution and response from students, who appreciated the balance of theory and hands-on exposure. Feedback from students were collected through a structured Google Form, reflecting high satisfaction with both content and delivery.

Overall, the program proved to be a valuable academic initiative, strengthening the understanding of Marma Chikitsa and its practical relevance in present-day clinical practice.
